Hypnotherapy by Val Patney

‘Your potential is a great deal better than anyone led you to believe’

‘Don’t let anyone tell you what you cannot do’

What is Hypnosis?

Hypnosis is a natural state of mind where you feel totally relaxed. It is something we experience everyday, an example would be when you are driving on a motorway and the miles pass by and you are not aware of the time, this is an experience of waking hypnosis. This may also happen when you’re reading a pleasant book or watching an interesting TV programme.

Hypnotherapy works at a deeper level, allowing access to the sub-conscious to facilitate change which allows new behaviour to replace old, leading to beneficial effects.

Simple hypnotic relaxation techniques help attain a calm relaxed state and with the help of a trained hypnotherapist it becomes easy to visualize yourself becoming healthier, happier, more confident, a non smoker or whatever other goal you wish to attain.

It must be emphasised here that what hypnotherapists do is by definition therapeutic. Stage hypnosis is very different. It is a form of entertainment

Hypnosis is a natural state of mind where you feel totally relaxed, a feeling comparable to when you lie in bed and are so overcome with comfort you wish the moment lasts forever.

Other examples of natural trance states are while driving a car, reading a book or watching TV

COMMON FEARS ABOUT HYPNOTHERAPY

A person cannot be hypnotized against their will. Cooperation and agreement are essential for success

While under hypnosis nobody can make you do anything which you do not want to do.

You will not reveal anything you do not want to while under hypnosis.

Some people fear they will never wake up. This is not true.
